Its very funny how the sponsorship deal is agreed with GREENE KING so near the AGM, you have said that the league name will be changed i thought you needed a vote to change the name of the league,you say it will ensure the league has a strong bid to secure future Greene King sponsorship?oh and allow the current clubs to stay in the league thats good of them.Whats the point of the sponsorship you don't spend any of it you just but it in the bank?And you also say that the name change will allow you to go out side of the current jurisdiction and encourage more pubs further afield to join the league,you don't need to change the name to do this, you can already do this which was proved with the Wagon &Horses was it not? You also say however any furture teams will only be accepted into the league at the committee's discretion as agreed with Greene King Pub Partners,who's running the league the committee with the help of the players or Greene King we would like to know. confused confused confused confused Ithink we will all have to eat the cheese on this one

The name of the league doesn't change until next season as recommended by Greene King. We request the sponsorship at the beginning of the season but never get a confirmation until near the end of the season. With regard to the sponsorship money that we receive, a bill gets sent to Greene King from the Trophy Shop which they then pay so we do not receive any of the money and we then pay the remainder of the balance for the trophies. If we did not receive this sponsorship, the fees would in the end be put up to cover all overheads of running the league. At each AGM a Treasurer's Balance Sheet is always produced showing everything.

So Sharon the name of the league dosn't change until next year surely you have to have a vote on this? or is this part of Greene Kings stipulation so as you can get the sponsorship.

As you have said Sharon the moneys that Greene King gives goes to the trophy shop to help pay for the said trophies, what happens to the rest of the money collected from the dart teams the signing on fee's & the comp fee's this gets put in the bank because the committee don't spend it. So what you are saying is the league cannot function with out the help of the money Greene King gives i find this hard to believe.
If you are saying that the trophies are really expensive and the league can't afford to bye them without the money from Greene King, if this is the case the committee should cut back on trophies .You have also stated that if you did not receive the the sponsorship the fee's would have to be put up, what about the moneys sat in the bank what is that for the committee's retirement fund .As was stated some years ago the Abingdon Dart League is a non profit making organization so whats changed.

We have purchased 2 new score boards and pay the remainder for the trophies and of course the cost of finals night and preparation for the following years dart league including printing. At the end of the season there is a bit of money left in the account which Christine keeps by just in case we don't receive the sponsorship for the following year. We did put it to the vote a couple of AGM's ago to have vouchers instead of trophies which would keep the costs down but this was voted out. If we didn't receive the sponsorship, at the moment we would be ok for a few years but down the line would result in fees going up which we don't want to do. Christine does produce a Treasurer's Report each year and does have the bank book for anyone to look at should they wish.
